Syncspace Desktop
The optional Syncspace Desktop app runs on Mac and Windows computers and enhances your experience of using syncspace.live.
Currently, the main purpose of this app is to make it quicker to connect to a syncspace. You can connect to both audio and video in two mouse clicks whereas without the app this will take four mouse clicks. Additionally, if you often connect to many different syncspaces, the app will maintain a list of all the syncspaces you have visited.
In the near future the app will be used to help calculate the best location for a syncspace on our on-demand network.
Mac installation instructions
- Double-click on the downloaded syncspace.dmg file to install the program and follow the instructions in the installer.
- Double-click the syncspace application found in your Applications folder or in the Launchpad.
- When you run the application the first time, you may see the following prompt: “syncspace” cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified. As long as you downloaded the installer from this page you can follow the instructions below to safely run the program (you will only have to perform these steps once):
- Click Cancel.
- Click on the “System Preferences…” menu item under the Apple logo menu on your desktop.
- In the System Preferences panel, click on “Security & Privacy” and then click on the “General” tab.
- On the General tab you will see the following message: “syncspace” was blocked from use because it is not from an identified developer.
- Click “Open Anyway” and then click “Open” on the dialog that follows and the application should then launch. You may have to click the lock icon to make changes.
- Once the program is launched, you may wish to right-click on the application in the dock and select “Keep in Dock” for easy access in the future.
Windows installation instructions
- Double-click on the downloaded syncspace.msi file to run the installer.
- You may be prompted by Microsoft Defender SmartScreen as the file will appear to have an unknown publisher. As long as you downloaded the program from this page you can safely click on the “More info” link followed by the “Run anyway” button to run the installer.
- After the installer has completed running, the program can be found in your \Program Files (x86)\Syncspace folder. You should also find a shortcut in your Start menu under “Recently added.” You may wish to create a shortcut of your own on your desktop.
