Diane Nalini with Mark Ferguson and Michael Herring
June 12 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm EDT
Diane Nalini returns to syncspace.live with a trio to celebrate summer’s arrival with a wonderful program of songs evoking romance and summer holidays in exotic lands. Just because we can’t travel doesn’t mean we can’t take a musical journey!
Diane will be joined by Mark Ferguson on piano and trombone, and Michael Herring on double bass. They’ll be performing some of Diane’s original songs with carefully chosen jazz standards, and unique interpretations of a few pop classics.
Diane Nalini – voice
Jazz singer and songwriter Diane Nalini started singing at the age of three. Born in Montreal to Belgian and Goan parents, she sings and writes songs in four languages (English, French, Portuguese and Spanish). Her multilingual repertoire draws from her lifelong passion for jazz, French Chanson, Brazilian popular song, and great literature. An accomplished songwriter, composer, and lyricist, Diane has written or co-written songs that have been used in major Hollywood releases, indie films, television shows and video games. Diane has released five wide ranging and warmly received albums, and has given gala performances for President Bill Clinton and Sir Paul McCartney. She was one of two finalists for the UK’s Young Jazz Vocalist of the Year in 2001, and was nominated for the Grand Prix de Jazz General Motors at the 2002 Montreal International Jazz Festival.
Mark Ferguson – piano, trombone

Mark is a Faculty Lecturer (jazz, trombone) at McGill University, a Performance Instructor (Jazz Piano/Trombone)/ Sessional Lecturer at Carleton University and is active as a jazz clinician at high schools and universities across Canada.
Michael Herring – double bass
Michael Herring is a double-bassist and composer based in Toronto who writes, performs and records across genre lines, equally comfortable in jazz as in roots settings, including folk, world, and pop/rock. Herring leads and co-leads a number of groups which focus on original music of which he is a major contributor. Herring’s compositions and bass playing can also be heard in the collectives Way North (New York/Toronto collaboration with Petr Cancura, Rebecca Hennessy and Richie Barshay).
