New Pathways (Peter Hum, Kenji Omae, John Geggie, Tim Shia)
April 2 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm EDT
Rich harmonies and the infinite ways in which chords can be connected have fascinated Ottawa pianist Peter Hum since he took his first steps in jazz more than four decades ago. Join Peter with his new syncspace.live quartet as they explore harmonically lush compositions by Herbie Hancock, Bill Evans and Billy Strayhorn that are as innovative as they are lyrical.
The concert will also include some of Peter’s latest compositions, whose novel musical pathways draw upon what Peter has learned from these masters. The band will include the phenomenal tenor saxophonist Kenji Omae, performing from his office at St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, bassist John Geggie performing from Ottawa, and drummer Tim Shia performing from Toronto.
