Don’t miss what is sure to be an engaging and exhilarating performance bringing together two of Canada’s finest jazz musicians.

Bob Brough has been a key member of the Canadian jazz music scene for over 50 years. Having come to prominence in the 1980s with the trailblazing Time Warp, and Jim Galloway’s Wee Big Band, Bob continued with the JUNO award winning Rich Underhill Quintet in the early 2000s. Since 2006, the focus of Mr. Brough’s creative output as an instrumentalist, bandleader and composer has been with his quartet featuring an all star Canadian rhythm section of top Canadian drummer Terry Clarke, pianist Adrean Farrugia, and bassist Artie Roth. His group debuted with “A Decade of Favorites” in 2003, “Like a Spring Day” in 2005, and most recently, “Time Away” in 2008. Charting at # 1 on Chart Attack! and Earshot during it’s first month of release. Selections from these recordings can be heard frequently on Canadian and international radio stations as well as his contributions as a side person on over 30 albums, including Rich Underhill’s JUNO award winning “Tales from The Blue Lounge” in 2003. He is also a busy local player in Toronto, featured in ensembles including The Peter Hill Quintet, The Jive Bombers, The George Koller Quartet, The Laura Hubert Band and The Greg Pilo Quartet. Since the 1980’s, Bob’s sprawling performance career has brought him touring across Canada numerous times, performing in Jazz Festivals with groups including Time Warp, The Richard Underhill Quintet and most recently his own Quartet in 2018. Highlights have included his Quartet opening for Herbie Hancock at the 2004 Ottawa International Jazz Festival, as well as countless appearances at concert and club settings in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Quebec City, Ottawa, Calgary, Halifax, and Edmonton.

Award-winning pianist and composer Adrean Farrugia began playing piano at the age of 12. By age 16 he recognized that he would dedicate his life to music. Since then he has become recognized as one of Canada’s most sought after pianists and composers, having shared the music he loves globally with various bands across Canada, the United States, London UK, Paris, Tokyo, Tel Aviv, Australia, Poland, and The Netherlands with artists such as Ernie Watts, Sheila Jordan, Brad Goode, Cyrille Aimee, Matt Dusk, Molly Johnson, Joel Frahm, Ernesto Cervini, The Worst Pop Band Ever and others. Adrean serves on the faculties of Mohawk College and Humber College and has conducted masterclasses and workshops for students at the University of Colorado at Boulder, the Sydney Conservatorium, the Polish Jazz Society Summer Workshop, and the University of Toronto. Adrean has played on more than 40 albums to date garnering 2 Juno awards, 8 Juno award nominations, a Mark Award for ‘Best Production Music Artist’ from the Production Music Association of America, ‘Pianist of the Year’ at the Hamilton Arts Awards, and a nomination for the Ontario Arts Council’s Louis Applebaum Composer’s Award. Adrean believes that music is a powerful form of communication that has the power to heal and inspire both the performer and the listener, as well as revealing a higher sense of being which exists in all people, and it is this belief that drives his continued journey and commitment to musical growth and sharing. Adrean Farrugia is endorsed by Shigeru Kawai Pianos.
