Duo: Adrean Farrugia & Peter Hum
March 14, 2021 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm EDT

For this, our first Sunday afternoon duo concert, we’re excited to feature two very fine pianists performing between Hamilton, Ontario and Ottawa, Ontario with 500 kms and 176 keys between them.
Award winning pianist and composer Adrean Farrugia is one of Canada’s most distinct voices on the piano. Since the late 1990s Adrean has been in high demand as a freelance performer and educator. Keeping a busy touring schedule, mainly as a sideman, Adrean has toured extensively across Canada and the United States as well as in venues across Europe, Australia, the UK, Israel and in Japan. Adrean has performed/recorded with some of jazz’s greatest and most diverse artists including: Ernie Watts, Adam Nussbaum, Larry Carlton, Curtis Fuller, Tom Scott, Bob Brookmeyer, Randy Brecker, Eric Alexander, Cyrille Aimee, Molly Johnson, Jane Bunnett, Ron Blake, Joel Frahm, Matt Penman, Dafnis Prieto, Kinan Azmeh, Brad Goode, Kenny Wheeler, Darcy James Argue, Don Thompson, Lorne Lofsky, Kevin Turcotte, and Pat Labarbera.
Born and raised in Ottawa, Canada, Peter Hum has been a mainstay of the city’s jazz community for almost three decades. He has released three albums of original modern mainstream jazz. His latest recording, Ordinary Heroes, a collection of 10 compositions that respond to today’s social and political tumult, was released online in the fall of 2019 thanks to grants from the Ontario Arts Council and City of Ottawa. Previously, Peter released his second album, Alpha Moment in 2015, and his debut recording, A Boy’s Journey, in 2010. Peter counts himself very fortunate to have performed with such Canadian jazz legends as Sonny Greenwich, Phil Nimmons, Pat LaBarbera and Reg Schwager. Over the years, Peter’s own projects have included such esteemed colleagues as the saxophonists Kenji Omae, Joel Miller, Frank Lozano and Mike Allen, guitarist Mike Rud and Roddy Ellias, and drummer Ted Warren, Dave Laing, Dave Robbins and Andre White.
